This talk should also be of interest to family historians as many of the sources to be quoted will bring up ancestors' names etc.

Although the talk is in general terms about how to go about tracing house history, regard will be given to the Alston area where records are quite dispersed. Some records may show who the architect was, who was the developer and who built the house.

Photo shows Carlisle archive centre which holds vast amounts of historical information.
