John and Josephine Bowes were a childless couple who used their immense wealth in assembling a vast collection of artworks, and built the Bowes Museum in Barnard Castle to house them and exhibit them for the benefit of ordinary people, introducing them to the wider world.
The ordinary people of Alston Moor Historical Society will be given a guided tour and the opportunity to explore for themselves this marvellous Museum, designed on the lines of a French chateau.
The cost per person is £26.50, to include entry, the tour and a sandwich and cake at lunchtime. Places are limited to 20, so book early.
